On occasion of seventy years of 'Roman Holiday', Hotel de la Ville proposes an exclusive tour of the Eternal City on two wheels.

Hotel de la Ville, a Rocco Forte Hotel celebrates the 70th anniversary of “Roman Holiday” with an exclusive experience on two wheels that will take guests on a tour of the iconic locations of Rome featured in the legendary movie.

Released in 1953 and directed by William Wyler, the film helped to establish the Eternal City in the collective imagination as the embodiment of the Dolce Vita lifestyle.

Created exclusively for hotel guests, this exhilarating scooter ride will trace the steps of the film’s two leading characters, played by Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck, taking in all the Roman locations made iconic by the multi-award winning picture.

See the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain, Mouth of Truth and the Victor Emmanuel II National Monument, and on to Piazza di Spagna where Audrey Hepburn in the role of Princess Anna buys a gelato to eat on the Spanish Steps. Next comes the Roman Forum and the Colosseum, and lastly, Via della Stamperia where, in order to avoid being recognized, the princess decided to have a haircut. The actress was so utterly captivated by her “Roman Holiday” experience that she went on to spend twenty years of her life in the capital.

This exciting scooter itinerary is the Hotel de la Ville’s tribute to the strong ties between Rome and the film industry. Dream Portraits: a work of art inspired by your sleep

The novel "Dream Portraits" project by Rocco Forte Hotels invites guests to turn their dreams into reality with the help of Roman artist Matteo Nasini.

From intangible to material, "Dream Portraits" is a project by Rocco Forte Hotels, allowing guests of Hotel de la Ville’s suites and the Rocco Forte House private residences in Rome to have their dreams visually and audibly brought to life. In partnership with renowned Roman artist Matteo Nasini, the experience includes a dream recording, the creation of a sculptural work of art or an audio track delivered to guest's homes following their stay. The ultimate personal keepsake from a very special sojourn , the sculpture will become a memory in physical form, capturing each guest’s state of mind during their time in Rome.

Matteo Nasini aims to make the dreamlike state tangible by translating the chemical activity of the brain into shapes and sounds. During their stay, guests are invited to wear a comfortable headset equipped with EEG sensors that subtly record brain activity. Whilst they sleep, a real time conversion software transforms the data into audio signals resulting in the creation of sound waves to be turned into a sculpture.

The process involves 3D printing technology, creating unique fine porcelain sculptures that each tell a story of depth and individuality, never before captured. A rare opportunity to interact with a dream of their own design, the resulting work of art is intricate and deeply personal to each guest. Matteo Nasini has long been fascinated by the possible ephemeral and material forms that dreams can produce. The instinctive human desire to consciously witness our dreams led him to explore the sounds generated by different sleeping phases, turning them into a physical representation of once inaccessible emotions, thoughts and feelings.

The project is a first-of-its-kind experience that combines contemporary art, craftsmanship, and the luxury of staying in a Rocco Forte Hotels suite. To access the experience, guests can choose from 15 elegant suites with stunning views of the Eternal City at Hotel de la Ville or one of five luxury private apartments at Rocco Forte House within an 18th-century palazzo.

Café Ginori seamlessly blends the art of pottery, hospitality, and cuisine, offering an exceptional experience to be discovered at Hotel de la Ville.

Bold yet refined, playful yet sophisticated: Café Ginori features an expertly curated boutique alongside the culinary creations of Chef and Creative Director of Food for Rocco Forte Hotels, Fulvio Pierangelini to offer a timeless space where guests experience a dynamic and unexpected journey in the Eternal City. Crafted by Chef Pierangelini, the gastronomic experience perfectly complements the porcelain collections that reflect the essence and style of Ginori 1735: Oriente Italiano (Italian Orient), Il Viaggio di Nettuno (Journey of Neptune), and Labirinto (Labyrinth).

Café Ginori at Hotel de la Ville welcomes guests daily, from 10:30AM to 10:30PM, and offers a diverse culinary experience with three distinct menus: an all-day menu available until 7:00 PM, and a lunch and dinner menu, both enriched by daily specials that enhance the seasonality of local ingredients. Specialties of Chef Pierangelini’s dishes include scampi with caramelized Sciacca mango, artichokes, and Asetra caviar; cacio e pepe with lobster; and caesar salad with crispy chicken and seasonal truffles.

Reflecting the atmosphere of Ginori 1735’s flagship boutiques, the fabrics and furnishings - from Maison’s “Domus” home decor collection create an elegant backdrop for Café Ginori at Hotel de la Ville. The pottery’s iconic patterns are paired in stylish and refined combinations and the brand’s icons become part of the Roman Café Ginori décor: from the “Oriente Italiano” wallpaper to the embroidered fabrics used on cushions, upholstery, and chairs.

Echoes of Eternity in Roman Basilicas| Taking in the sacred architecture of Rome, this unique trip explores some of the city’s most iconic landmarks and its revered Papal Basilicas. The basilicas showcase a distinct architectural style and uphold timeless traditions, each with a Holy Door symbolising a sacred passage. The experience begins at the Basilica di San Paolo fuori le Mura, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site and the second largest basilica in Rome after St Peter’s. Guests will also visit San Giovanni in Laterano – the oldest of Rome’s basilicas – designed by Francesco Borromini, a leading figure in Roman Baroque architecture. Palaces of Tuscia - Palazzo Farnese in Caprarola and Viterbo |Perfect for a day trip, the Tuscia countryside offers gentle hills, lakes and delightful hamlets dating back to Etruscan times. The tour starts in the town of Caprarola with a visit to the Palazzo Farnese, symbol of one of the Renaissance’s most influential noble families. Shaped like a pentagon, the Palace has a striking hillside location and houses several grand halls, italianate gardens framed by fountains, a hunting lodge, and a magnificent cycle of Mannerist frescoes. The visit will be followed by a walking tour of Viterbo, a medieval town known as the ‘City of Popes’. Viterbo served as the papal seat during the 13th century, as evidenced by the imposing Palace of the Popes, with its grand architecture and striking courtyard.

Throughout the festive season, Hotel de la Ville shines a spotlight on Cinecittà and its extraordinary artisans, those whose talent and imagination give tangible form to cinematic dreams. The collaboration transforms the hotel into a refined “house of cinema,” where elegance meets creative vision. Conceived exclusively for Rocco Forte Hotels, Cinecittà lends its craftsmanship to bring the concept to life. Within the hotel, evocative installations pay tribute to the atmospheres that have made Rome-based cinema iconic.

In the courtyard, “Rome of the Gladiators” reawakens the epic imagery of classics like Mervyn LeRoy’s Quo Vadis? and William Wyler’s Ben-Hur, films that carried Cinecittà’s vision of ancient Rome across the globe, from ruins to arenas and legendary chariot races.

Integrated into this narrative are two remarkable Christmas trees, both conceived and crafted by Cinecittà’s scenography construction department. These installations deepen the cinematic journey by celebrating both sides of filmmaking, what the audience sees, and what happens behind the scenes.

In the lobby, guests encounter “The Film Reel Tree,” a sculptural homage to the magic of celluloid. Wrapped in images sourced from the Archivio Luce Cinecittà, the tree presents a visual timeline of Rome through decades of cinema. Selectively chosen photographs reveal the Eternal City as the ultimate film set, a place where history, artistry, and storytelling converge.

In the courtyard, “The Maestro Tree” rises from the wooden “cavalle,” the structural supports traditionally used to build Cinecittà sets. “Thanks to the expert hands of the Cinecittà artisans, a unique creation comes to life symbolizing the union between the power of imagination and the value of know-how through the use of simple materials: with their skills our amazing workers have contributed to the creation of thousands of visionary worlds and thanks to them to the global fame of Cinecittà” adds Manuela Cacciamani CEO of Cinecittà Studios.

Imagined for Hotel de la Ville's Suites guests, the “Behind the scenes experience” allows guests to visit areas of Cinecittà Studios that are usually closed to the public. Amongst them is the Studio's carpentry workshop, where Cinecittà's artisans make designs and constructions for major films, giving shape to the creativity and visionary ideas of directors, set designers and interior designers. During the experience Suite guests will also have the possibility to visit an exceptional opening of the Film Camera Museum and peek at the set of Rome (this will be sensitive to ongoing productions) . The tour will continue inside Cinecittà with the exhibition regarding the history of cinema, a tribute to the director Federico Fellini. The dreamy lifestyle of Rome becomes an integral part of the hotel experience together with the themed cocktail list “Once upon a time at Cielo Bar….” designed by our Director of Mixology Simone di Serio.
